Between 1450 and 1500 the Buondelmonti gradually transformed the castle into a noble residence, making it an interesting fusion of medieval and Renaissance forms, inhabiting it until the disappearance of their last heir, Luisa Buondelmonti in 1845.
There are fabulous and very extensive cellars below the castle, approximately 390 sqm, divided into 8 interconnecting rooms and corridors, which could be developed into a magical restaurant or another touristic venue with the correct permissions in place. On the other side of the valley, directly opposite, and only 2.5km or approximately 5 minute drive away is the new and beautifully designed Cantina Antinori, one of Tuscany’s most visited attractions.
